Haha…Its funny how the law is initiated and everyone tries in his or her mighty power to obey it or not go contrary to it, since you will have to face the music once you fall a victim to not obeying the law. Amazingly also, the law always brings punishment to those who try to obey it cos in their trying, they get victimized. Therefore, the only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break. Yes..simple as that. When there is no law to obey, there is no law to break.
Due to the law that was given and how rigid they were, the Israelite then came to a realisation of how sinful they were. They were over ridden by their sinful nature and were always finding themselves breaking the law one way or the other. They ask for forgiveness by means of the sacrifice and the next moment they sin again. They just couldn’t do good even though they wanted to and the purpose of the Ten Commandments were intended to show them what sin is. In actual fact, they wouldn’t have known it except by the law (Rom 7:7), but yet still, the law couldn’t draw us closer to God, the law couldn’t reconnect man and God, it couldn’t make us righteous,it couldn’t save us till something happened.
Something that accomplished what the law failed to do, something that made us righteous, something that reconnected us with God,something that gave us life again, something that made our burdens bearable, something that saved us ,something that redeemed us….and that something was GRACE and still is Grace. The Grace that was given to us after death and resurrection of Christ….the Grace that can be defined as an unmerited favor which God bestowed and still is bestowing upon all those who repent and trust in the finish work of Christ.
This Grace can only produce what our works cant give out. That’s why Paul made it clear in Romans 11:6 saying “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace” and “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph 2:8-9) ” God gives us what we do not deserve; If grace were merited, then it wouldn’t be grace anymore but salvation by works and no one is saved or can be saved by works and Now this is good news for us because no one could possibly keep the law perfectly or still can. Only Christ could and also did so.He kept the law for us who couldn’t so that we could receive eternal life by means of our faith in Him and His finished work.
Looking at things now, would the law itself be considered as sin? NO! Yet if it had not been for the law,we would not have known sin, we also would not have even known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet” (Rom 7:7).
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God” (1 John 3:8-9)-“Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. We are not saved by the law or by law-keeping BUT by GRACE through Christ Jesus. We cant be affected with the perception that we are sinners once we confess and acknowledge Christ as our Lord. We’ve got the power to change.
